Bring out the big guns, pansies, because Fray is here to kick you square in the fleshy grapefruits and unleash untold havoc on the digital gaming sphere. Alternatively, it’s just been released on Steam.
Clock in at €15.99/$15.99/£11.99, the game is being offered at a week-long discount of 20% until June 26th, after which its price will revert to its standard €19.99/$19.99/£14.99 point, barring any hitherto unannounced Steam sales, of course. Early purchasers can also enjoy a similar price cut on the game’s four-pack, which sports four digital copies of the game for the price of three.
While the screenshot above may exude plentiful standard-fare shooter vibes, Fray is better described as a turn-based action-strategy game. Players can engage in competitive and co-operative multiplayer for up to four simultaneous combatants, although it’s worth noting that there’s currently no single-player mode to speak of. That’ll teach us to have no friends, right?
Still, those successful in assembling a party of fellow commanders will be able to enjoy the benefits of 20 separate unit classes, 20 maps and – you guessed it – 20 different items of equipment and weaponry. There’s also an XP and credit system by which successful players are rewarding for their on-field exploits, along with a fully-supported range of online leaderboards.
Fray can be purchased right now through Steam, whilst further details on the game are available on its website.
